Save yourself the tears, save yourself the pain, and just save yourself the trouble. I'm begging you - Harry Potter fans, just DON'T. Maybe it's because I was let down, or maybe it's because the book (or PLAY) was just not good. When I read it, I felt a drop in my stomach. I read it once, then put it on my Harry Potter shelf (my shelf with just Harry Potter items) and never read it again. ![]() I don't know anyone who enjoyed it, or even tolerated it. I had waited and waited for this book and IT LET ME DOWN. But I kept going, read it all in one terrible, sleepless night, and after, I just lie awake LITERALLY crying. IT'S A PLAY, and for goodness sakes, I should've stopped there. Your favorite characters are NOT who they used to be, the fun is NOT where it was, and there's just none of that wry wit and charm that was in the classics. Rowling's effortless humor, great storytelling, and extravagant, thrilling plot are just not there. Yes, it returns to your favorite characters and the Malfoy-Potter thing is quite interesting and pleasant, but if you love the series, then know that the magic is gone. I watch all the movies, read all the books, buy special editions, create Harry Potter clubs, and write letters to J.K. + A bit of fantasy violence & death & pain + Meh messages, actually sort of problamatic messages (SPOILERS FROM NOW) instead of someting interesting, like "what if Harry was sorted into Slytherin" or something, it's "what if the trolley lady was evil" and "what if Cedric was a deatheater" They don't explore possibilities that the reader is interested in. It's a fanfic, and not even a good fanfic. ![]() If you're not into HP, you may enjoy it more because you are not as invested in how the characters "should" act or how objects "should" work. If you do want to read it, it is best to read it as a standalone (not related to HP) The play is ok, but still better as a atandalone if you must see it. The characters are not "in character," it goes against everything in the books (harry loves fame, Hermionie is black (nbd, worth mentioning) time turners still exist, time turners are used differently (you pick when to go back instead of "timing out," Voldemort HAD A KID, & Cedric becomes a Death Eater) Everything feels unnatural, fake, and forced.
